The basics of using Lawlight
By using Lawlight, you agree to the terms on this page. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.
The service
Lawlight uses an AI model to generate plain-language explanations of uploaded documents (Contract Explainer) and answers to legal questions (Ask LawLight), focused on Ontario, Canada. See the Legal Disclaimer for what that does and does not mean. Using Lawlight does not create a lawyer-client or paralegal-client relationship.
Free usage limit
Each account currently includes 2 free document analyses, enforced server-side. Lawlight may change this limit, including for existing accounts, as the product develops.
Acceptable use
- Only upload documents you have the right to share — don't upload someone else's confidential or privileged material without their authorization.
- Don't try to disrupt, overload, or circumvent the service's rate or usage limits.
- Don't rely on Lawlight's output as a substitute for professional legal advice in any matter where that advice actually matters to you.
No warranty, limited liability
Lawlight is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, including accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lawlight is not liable for decisions made or actions taken based on its output.
Governing law & changes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada. Lawlight may update these terms as the product develops; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
