What Lawlight is, and is not
Lawlight is an AI-powered tool that explains legal documents and answers legal questions in plain language. It is not a law firm, not a lawyer, and not a paralegal. Using Lawlight does not create a lawyer-client or paralegal-client relationship of any kind.
Every explanation, summary, clause analysis, and answer Lawlightproduces is generated by an AI model. AI models can misread documents, miss important terms, misunderstand context, or state something confidently that is simply wrong. Lawlight does not independently verify its own output against a human reviewer before showing it to you.
What Lawlight does not do
- It does not tell you whether a clause, contract, or notice is legal, illegal, valid, or enforceable.
- It does not tell you whether to sign, agree to, dispute, or ignore anything.
- It does not guarantee it has found every important term in a document — absence of a finding is not confirmation that a concern does not exist.
- It is designed primarily around Ontario, Canada legal information. That focus does not mean its output is guaranteed to be accurate or current under Ontario law — the same accuracy limits above apply fully within Ontario, not just outside it. General-knowledge answers about other jurisdictions should not be relied on even if the AI happens to produce one.
When to speak with a professional
If a document or situation could affect your money, your home, your job, your immigration status, your family, or your legal rights in a way that matters to you, treat Lawlight's output as a starting point for questions, not an answer — and review it with a licensed Ontario lawyer or paralegal before you act on it. Legal Aid Ontario and Steps to Justice are reasonable starting points if cost is a concern.
This page is itself a plain-language explanation, not a substitute for having a lawyer review Lawlight's own terms if that matters to you.
